The Daily Buzz

Contrary to what almost any other website you will find about Las Vegas Nightclubs, you do not have to have a VIP Host to get into the clubs here. A VIP Host can help speed things up in many cases, but depending on your situation you might be better off making all of your own reservations and saving the extra cash to buy drinks for your friends.

What Hosts and VIP Hosts Actually Do In Las Vegas.
By Jack Colton

The term “VIP” is thrown around about as much in Las Vegas as the word “LOVE” is by fourteen-year-old girls. Clubs write it on their free promotional passes, VIP Hosts use it for everything that they do, and people absolutely love to believe that they are more “VIP” than the next guy. I am not a VIP Host (nor do I get kick-backs from any hosting companies), so I can be pretty up front about what everyone actually does. I will help you distinguish what exactly “VIP” means in Las Vegas, and tell you all about what VIP Hosts actually can do for you.

THE DIFFERENCE: For nightclubs it is important to separate “Hosts” and “VIP Hosts.” A Host actually works for the club, is the one who will inevitably be handling your table reservations, taking care of your party during the night, and who will be expecting a tip at the end of the night (of $100 or more) regardless of how often you actually see them. A VIP Host is a middle-man that doesn’t actually work for the club, but has an established relationship with the hosts and doormen at most of the clubs around town. Their job, if you choose to use them, is to do all of the work for you, and to ensure that you and your friends have a great time all night. You don’t have to worry about waiting in lines, getting anyone’s attention, making reservations, scheduling limousines, or keeping all of your friends under control timewise. They will take care of everything in advance, walk you through the lines with little-to-no-wait, and will also be expecting an additional tip for their services (of $100 or more).

I don’t have a problem with VIP Hosting companies in the slightest bit, but I have always had a problem with the fact that they flood the internet with information that tells people that they won’t have a chance getting into a Las Vegas nightclub unless they use their services. You honestly don’t need them to book a table reservation at a Las Vegas Nightclub (*unless it’s a holiday weekend), and I’ve given you direct access to the Hosts at all of the major Las Vegas nightclubs. If you work with the hosts contacts that I have given you on this site within two weeks of your reservation, you will be fine on your own.

WHY RESERVATIONS GET BUMPED: You might have heard of a person's table reservations getting bumped when they booked it themselves, and there are two contributing factors to that happening. First, if the person made the reservation at the last minute through a "junior host" (one at the club without much seniority), there is a good chance that the next customer who booked through a host with more rank, or who tipped more upon arrival, got their table honored instead. You always want to make sure that you are booking through someone who has the most "pull" at the club, and you should always plan to tip the appropriate amount. The reason VIP Hosting companies rarely get their reservations bumped, is because they have already factored in a specific tip amount for the host who is handling the reservation. When the ultimate decision maker knows they are "taken care of" $$ wise, the reservation sticks.

For those of you who don’t want to mess with doing everything yourself (which some people don’t), then you should definitely contact a VIP Hosting company in advance. I would recommend using Vegas VIP (E-Mail Michael Tomes for quotes or call 1-800-Vegas VIP). The owners are friends of mine, and I know that they take care of their clients. Just make sure to tell them that you heard about their company through this site. | -JC

*Footnote from above: Nightclubs almost always sell out early on Holiday weekends, and VIP Hosting companies flock to purchase blocks of table reservations to re-sell to their clients. If you are looking to book on a holiday weekend through the actual club plan on reserving at least 3 weeks in advance and follow up the week of.
