OFFICIAL
REVIEW OF RAIN NIGHTCLUB by Jack Colton, Updated
10/17/2007
Since it’s
opening in 1999, Rain has arguably raised the bar for nightclubs
across the country, and could easily be considered one of the
most influential clubs in the history of Las Vegas. Featured in
MTV’s “Real World Las Vegas,” Rain continues
to fill its dance floor with tourists who were fans of the show,
and with those rightfully impressed by its award-winning sound
system and pyrotechnics décor.
You won’t
find many locals visiting RAIN these days, but don’t let
that deter you. This club still has hour long lines to get in,
is filled with thousands of tourists looking to find someone to
have a great time with, and will undoubtedly be a great place
to catch a hottie to take up to your hotel room. After all...everyone
that goes to Rain is obsessed with the "What Happens in Vegas,
Stays In Vegas" saying.
A
VIRTUAL WALKTHROUGH:
When you
walk up to the front door of RAIN you will immediately be faced
with a maze of ropes and doormen. Don’t worry; I’ll
help walk you through it (online of course). On the right side
of you is the pay line, directly in front of you is the guest
list/table reservation waiting area, and to your left are the
lines to get into Ghost Bar and N9NE Steak House.
*Tip:
If you
are using a Fake ID, don’t use it here. The doormen at RAIN
have a legendary 6th sense for fakes and almost always catch them.
Once you get
inside of the rope you will either go to the left side of the
hall to pay or the right side to get stamped (this of course depends
on if you were on guest list or not). As you walk into the club
you will see the DJ to your left, sexy go-go dancers dancing above
him on suspended swings, and a giant dance floor surrounded by
a “water mote” directly in front of you. If you walk
straight ahead into the sideroom past the DJ booth, this is the
best bar to get a drink at. If you look to the right of this bar
you will see what looks like a hidden VIP room covered in beads.
If you are looking for a place to make out in later in the evening,
this is the place (it’s hidden and everyone mistakenly thinks
it is a VIP room).
If you look
upstairs you will see a number of tables and “sky boxes.”
Sometimes there are celebrities up there, but more often than
not it is just another VIP table area. If you don’t know
the security and don’t have a table, don’t even bother
trying to get up there. Just head to the dance floor and get the
night started (Just watch out for the occasional fire plumes shooting
directly over your head from Rain’s suspended truss).
INFORMATION
ABOUT RAIN NIGHTCLUB:
When
to go to RAIN: The club is open Thursday, Friday, and
Saturday. Get there around 11PM.
How
to get to RAIN Nightclub: RAIN is located inside of the
Palms Casino on Flamingo. If you are visiting Las Vegas and staying
on the Strip, plan on taking a taxi or limousine to the Palms.
It’s way too far to walk.
Dress
Code: Girls can get in wearing whatever looks hot, and
guys typically wear the same untucked collared shirt that all
of their friends are wearing. As always keep your pants nice and
watch for your shoes.
