The latest incarnation of the famed Playboy Club
is much more of a gaming environment than that of a nightclub,
but none the less is a very chic getaway for those looking to
grab a cocktail and take in the lavish scenery that the Playboy
brand is known for providing. Featuring three (3) bars, pinball
machines, a full casino lounge, a deeply lavish decor, and a staff
completed by the worldly iconic Playboy bunnies; this venue is
certainly a must visit. And as an added bonus, entrance into Playboy
Club will also allow you free direct escalator access upstairs
to Moon Nightclub
(and vice versa).
I've always
enjoyed my time at Playboy Club, but mainly treat
it as somewhat of an extension of Moon
as the bulk of the club is actually a high-limit casino. If you
aren't gambling, and don't have a table reservation, you will
mainly enjoy hanging out in the lounge area to your left (from
the elevators) as it is easiest to get a drink from the bar and
hear the conversation you are in. If you are looking for a nightclub
environment that still provides somewhat of a lounge atmosphere,
you will enjoy Playboy Club the most. Otherwise,
make it your mission to go back and forth between here and Moon
Nightclub.

One of the
best things about all of the clubs inside of the Palms Hotel (Moon,
Playboy, Rain,
and Ghostbar) is that if
you are standing in line as a general admission customer, you
can expect your experience outside of the club to be a lot less
chaotic than what you will often find at other Las Vegas clubs.
Rather than having a pandemonium of people trying to fight their
way to the front of the line, where only the strongest will actually
get in to party, each of Palm’s venues features a fairly
narrow (and secure) long-winding line that people simply wait
to get in. Regardless, as you walk up to Moon / Playboy, you will
see this line winding to the right of the elevators that go to
the Fantasy Tower.
*If
your plan is to arrive early in order to help “skip the
line,” your best bet is to arrive between 9:45PM and 10:30PM
to get in this line. While you might be standing there for as
long as 45 minutes, it will certainly beat the up to two hour
wait that you can expect on busier weekend and special event nights.

If you are
arriving to check in for your table service (or to try and tip
your way past the line), simply walk up to the middle of everything
and check in with one of the hosts standing near the podium. Both
general admission and table customers will next be routed through
the lines that pass by the cashier in order to que for the next
available elevator to the club. You should have the option to
exit the elevator on either the Playboy Club or the Moon floors.
Whichever you choose, you can easily access the other venue, at
no extra charge, by using the set of escalators that go back and
forth between the clubs.

As you exit
onto the Playboy floor, you will immediately be immersed into
all of the vast elegance and exotic glamour that the Playboy brand
is known for. There will be a lounge to your left (complete with
a bar, fireplace, and a number of Playboy pinball machines), a
center bar directly in front of you, and the main floor of the
club directly to your right. One of the most striking things about
the main room of the Playboy Club, is that it is actually quite
a bit closer to being a casino floor than an actual club. You
will find about 10 – 15 fairly high-limit ($50 a hand or
higher) blackjack tables, a $25 per spin roulette table, and along
the far right wall of main room – a row of video poker machines
ranging from quarter to several dollars as your minimum bets.
Don’t let yourself pass through the Playboy Club without
taking a moment to observe the great detail that was put in place
throughout the venue. Uniquely textured walls, black marble accents,
artistically framed flat-screen televisions, the deliciously sexy
playboy bunnies, and of course, the $250,000 a piece Baccarat
crystal chandeliers. 4 of a 10 limited edition to exist in the
United States, the same limited edition that is rumored to grace
the ceiling of Heiress / Actress / Singer / Ex–Con Paris
Hilton’s Bedroom!
Next, make
your way up the escalator to Moon
Nightclub. You will find yourself immediately immersed in
a place that looks quite a bit like what one would expect to find
if they had somehow stumbled onto one of the futuristic spaceships
from the James Bond movies.

The entire
club is covered from floor to ceiling in silver beaded mosaic
tiles, octagon shaped mirrors, state-of-the-art lighted tiles,
and graced by a few dozen uber-hot cocktail waitresses in equally
as futuristic sexy silver uniforms (I can't think of a better
way to get a cocktail). The two most uniquely striking features
of Moon are easily the intermittent lasers that enhances the club's
perfectly designed sound and lighting systems, and the club's
signature retractable ceiling that allows patrons full view of
the night's sky as they enjoy themselves in the sea of nightlife
below.

After
you’re done partying:
The Palms has a great café downstairs with everything you’d
expect to find at a Café in the middle of the night, plus
more cocktails. If you’re up for a quick walk (or a VERY
short taxi-cab ride), across the street, the Gold Coast has some
pretty tasty late night Steak and Egg specials for under $4. Hell
yea.
How
to get to Moon / Playboy: Moon
and the Playboy Club are located at the top of the Fantasy Tower
in the Palms Hotel and Casino. If arriving by Taxi, or via through
the main entrance, walk straight into the casino and make your
way to the back wall towards the elevator to the Fantasy Tower
(the long line should be a hint that you are in the right spot).
Dress
Code: Moon
/ Playboy’s dress code requirements are fairly consistent
with what you can expect at any other Las Vegas nightclub. Gentlemen
should be mindful of their shoes (no tennis shoes, sandals, etc),
and should try to remain fashionable in terms of collared shirts,
sport coats, and the like.
