How important is what you wear to a Las Vegas nightclub? Extremely. Ignoring that you won't even get in if you wear the wrong clothes, wearing the RIGHT outfit can make the difference in you spending the night sparking conversation with beautiful people or being stuck at the bar as popular as a pregnant whore in church. Yes, folks, it's really that dire.

A few things to ALWAYS keep in mind....

The official dress code for most major Las Vegas nightclubs is listed as "stylish attire." The definition of 'stylish' may mean something entirely different to each person, so take that to mean that tennis shoes, baseball hats, jerseys, shorts, most all t-shirts, and any jeans considered too 'baggy' will likely get rejected.

Just because you've read here or heard elsewhere that something isn't allowed in a nightclub does not mean that you won't see it walking past the ropes. Someone may know someone, know the doorman, have tipped the right person, or be a part of a group that is spending a small fortune on table service. Don't let the double standard bother you, that's the way of the world kid.

Don't dress like a douchebag. You can - it's totally your choice, but your local nightlife guides would like to strongly advise against it. A good rule of thumb is if Criss Angel, the cast of Jersey Shore, or your 16 year old sexually confused neighbor is wearing it: you shouldn't be.

Women, please keep your heels on at the end of the night or plan on wearing some that are more comfortable. You spend so much time getting dressed to look nice, often times to only end up drunk and barefoot walking through the casino. Seriously, not a good look

Any night of the week that a Las Vegas club typically has more tourists inside than locals, you are going to find yourself in a virtual sea of untucked collared shirts with the top button undone. Is there isn’t anything wrong with wearing this outfit? Technically speaking, no. But should at least make that you don’t match all of your friends. Hell, they are your friends, you should know how they all dress by now. If everyone you are with is wearing the same thing, shake it up a bit with a sport coat or an ultra-thin black tie. Or wear something else entirely. The goal is to stand out in a club, not to look like you are the star member of “team dude.”

The temptation to simply wear a stylish t-shirt to a Las Vegas nightclub is even greater when you consider that you are visiting a nightclub in the middle of the desert. We get it, it's hot. But falling victim to your own comfort may mean the difference between you getting into the nightclub and the doorman telling you to kick rocks.

According to the official dress code of most all major Las Vegas nightclubs, t-shirts are a big no no. Does it mean that you won't see people inside wearing them? Of course not. Rules on dress codes tend to be bent if the doorman knows the person or if the group is a tipping table customer. If you don't fall in either of those categories, play it safe and dress it up a little. Add a jacket, get creative.

You can obviously wear dress pants to any Las Vegas nightclub if you really have your heart set on it, but it’s completely not necessary at any club in town. You are just fine with a nice pair of jeans, and you won’t look nearly as stuffy. If you do plan on wearing dress pants, think less khaki and more trendy: Zara, Diesel, and Metropark are great starts.

As mentioned above, jeans are completely acceptable at every club in Las Vegas. You just want to make sure that your jeans look good, as a lot of clubs frown upon torn/rugged jeans, and you shouldn't try to walk in wearing really baggy jeans. You will get rejected. Probably even laughed at. Children might cry. Bad idea.

You are always safe with leather and dress shoes. You can even occasionally get away with low profile “tennis shoes” as long as they are solid black (including the laces) if they look dressy enough and don’t have any huge logos on them.

Have some trendy kicks that you want to wear out? Officially, they aren't allowed, but most major Las Vegas nightclubs are relaxing the rules on shoes if you compensate elsewhere in your outfit. Have on a STYLISH collared shirt, tie, jacket, nice pants with your fashionable sports shoes? Always a gamble, but you could be just fine.

Style it up! Some clubs will let you in wearing a hat if it is considered fashionable (rimmed, beret, etc), but typically most will tell you to leave any sports hats outside of the ropes.

These are allowed everywhere, but they look f*cking stupid. I'm always one to appreciate new fashion trends and to embrace all things sexy, but the people who wear sunglasses to nightclubs are seriously trying too hard. And unless they are veterans at looking like a moron in the club, half of them realize their stupidity halfway through the night and wear them on their forehead instead. Don't risk public humiliation. Leave them at home.
