OFFICIAL
REVIEW OF GHOST BAR
by Jack Colton, Updated
01/18/2007
Ghost
Bar was the first of its kind in Las Vegas (the ultra
lounge with a view), and remains to this day one of the trendiest
venues in town. Featuring a classic view of the Las Vegas Strip
from the 55th floor of the original Palms tower, as a frequent
hangout for a-list celebrities, and with its “trademark”
Plexiglas square on the outer deck that allows you to look down
hundreds of feet to the swimming pool below - Ghost Bar
is the perfect choice for those looking for a slightly less hectic
environment, but who still want all the perks of the traditional
Las Vegas nightclub atmosphere.

A
VIRTUAL WALKTHROUGH:
Depending on which night you choose to visit this club, you should
walk up to a mass of people waiting to get into both RAIN
and Ghost Bar. You will want to get into the
Ghost Bar group on the left and work to get the
doorman / host’s attention. It usually isn’t a problem,
but due to the medium size of Ghost Bar, the
venue will occasionally be at max capacity on weekend nights (or
rented out for private parties) so it is possible that you might
have to wait a bit to get past the ropes - regardless of how big
your wallet or boobs are.
*Suggestion:
If you are planning on visiting Ghost Bar
earlier in the night on a weeknight (from 8pm - 11pm), you might
call their information line at 702-942-7777 to confirm that the
venue is currently open to the public.
Once you’re
selected to go inside, you will either be directed to the cashier
on the left, or the table / comp line on the right. Either way
you will receive a receipt totaling the number in your party,
and you will pass this little golden ticket to the security at
the top of the elevator – the last step in the process of
gaining entry into Ghost Bar. You will walk by
the restrooms on your way into the main room, and from there the
rest of the club is pretty much right in front of you. The main
bar is to your right, the DJ to your left, and the balcony with
the cool little Plexi glass is directly in front of you. You will
find two (2) more bars on either side of the balcony, and a fourth
in the little room to the left of the DJ booth (which you will
occasionally need a stamp or bracelet to enter).
Order yourself
one of Ghost Bar's signature "Ghostini's"
(Martini), and prepare to have a great time. It is completely
fine if you want to kind of groove "back and forth"
in a standing position by yourself, but if you want a dance floor
to get freaky on - you’re out of luck. Dancing is NOT allowed
inside Ghost Bar, so don’t even try. There
is even a big ass sign near the DJ booth warning you about it.
Rumor has it that they have even thrown the occasonal "twinkle
toes" off of the side of the building just to make an example
(Ok, maybe not. But consider yourself warned).

INFORMATION
ABOUT GHOST BAR:

When
to go to Ghost Bar: Friday and Saturday nights are the
best times to visit Ghost Bar, but the club is actually open seven
(7) nights a week. Doors open at 8:00pm, and will stay open until
between 1:30AM and 4:30AM depending on how busy it is inside.
How
to get to there: The entrance to Ghost Bar is on the
North East corner of the Palms Hotel and Casino just near the
doorways to N9NE Steakhouse and Rain Nightclub. You will wait
in line to pay the cashier downstairs, and then take an elevator
to the top floor of the original Palms tower.
Dress
Code: You should be fine with anything that at least
appears like you intended on going out to a Las Vegas Nightclub.
As always, watch out for your shoes.
What
to do after the club: Depending on what time you are
leaving the club (and of course what day), there are plenty of
other great nightlife options there within the Palms Resort. Definitely
check out Moon, Playboy, and Rain if you have the chance - otherwise
just sit in the middle of the casino and people watch. Palms is
great for that!
For
table reservations at Ghost Bar, please contact the Palms hotel
Guest Services department to be forwarded to the first available
Host. Phone 702-942-6832 or at tables@9groupvegas.com.
