REVIEW OF EYE CANDY by Jack Colton, Updated

Is it a casino center bar? Is it a nightclub? Well, actually Mandalay
Bay’s newest nightclub venue eye candy
is technically a bit of both. Quite literally the center
piece of Mandalay Bay’s newest property wide $300,000,000
renovation, eye candy is easily the most exciting nightclub concept
to hit the Las Vegas Strip in 2007. It features everything that
people have come to expect from a Vegas nightclub (posh table
service, outrageous décor, hi-tech entertainment, and
a beautiful service staff), but also operates the same as any
traditional casino center bar; fairly relaxed dress codes, no
doormen, no wait, and…..no cover charges! Yep, it's free
and easy to get in.
One of the
most notable features of eye candy is the set of technologically
advanced "pod tables." At a cost of nearly $200,000
a piece [for the casino to purchase], these tables will have any
technophile in an immediate cold sweat as they grant digital access
to the overhead camera security system of the club [covering the
dancefloor, bar area, DJ Booth, and other VIP tables], allow you
to spin the table in slow circles, and give you a full-color table
sized digital notepad that can send messages to the other “pods.”
You can even start a raging game of tic-tac-toe if you really
feel like it. Find yourself dancing on eye candy's floor that
lights up every place you step, but think the DJ’s music
selection could seriously use a little work? You are
welcome to put your iPod where your quick-to-complain-mouth is
as you are able to connect your music player and allow the DJ
to mix your music selection into the overhead sound system. Really,
how cool is that?
For those
looking to enjoy eye candy's table service, reservations are simply
based on a $200.00 an hour total drink purchase minimum.
KNOW
WHAT TO EXPECT.... by Jack Colton, Updated

There is
nothing worse than not knowing what you are getting into when
you plan a night out. You should know that given eye candy's
relaxed setting (with no formal door or cover charge),
there isn't really any level of discretion for whom is allowed
entry. You might be around a bunch of beautiful blondes one day
and a ton of drunken bachelors the next. It's absolutely impossible
to predict what the crowd will be like. This certainly doesn't
mean that you won't have a great time at eye candy, just don't
be surprised if you occasionally see someone 2 or 3x your age
out on the dancefloor with an ear-to-ear grin on their face. They
might even ask you to dance! - JC
